Your Volunteer Journey

Complete your application form
When you are sure that a Lattitude Global Volunteering placement is right for you, please complete the online application form. If you have any questions about the form please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you to complete it.
Have an interview
Once we have received your completed application form we will invite you to attend an interview. This is your chance to tell us a little more about yourself and the kind of volunteering experience you’re after. We use the interview process to learn more about you and ensure that we find you a placement that best matches your skills and experience with the specific needs of our hosts in-country. Face to face interviews are held at our office in Reading, but if you cannot get there we are happy to interview you by Skype.
You’re in!
You will be assigned a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator from our UK office who will contact you to confirm if you have been accepted as a volunteer. Your Coordinator will be your key contact and support you throughout your journey.
Where and what
Once you have paid your deposit the matching process begins. The process of matching every volunteer to the right placement can take some time as, in many cases, we are also recruiting volunteers from other parts of the world. The Country Manager of the programme for which you have been recommended for will discuss your placement options in more detail with you. They will provide you with further information about the placements available, the work involved and provide you with an opportunity to ask any additional questions.
Pre-Departure Briefing
Throughout the process before your departure, your Volunteer Coordinator will continue to provide assistance and prepare you for your placement. They will assist you with your flights, travel insurance and other travel requirements if necessary. You will receive further information on how to prepare for your placement and will be invited to attend a pre-departure briefing. At the briefing, you will be given details for your placement including a role description, host contact details and email addresses of previous volunteers who can tell you exactly what it’s like to volunteer in your country. This is also a great opportunity to meet fellow volunteers heading to a number of different countries and to ask questions of returned volunteers and staff. Parents and family are always welcome and encouraged to attend!
You’re away!
Goodbyes have been said and you’re off! On arrival you will meet your in-country Local Representative who, along with your host mentor, will support you throughout your placement. Your Volunteer Coordinator will also be able to answer any queries that may arise and remain in contact with you. If necessary, our 24-hour emergency phone line is available at any stage for you or your family if required. To make the most of your experience use your initiative and immerse yourself within your new community. You will receive more in return than you could ever imagine.
Second Placement
Many of our volunteers enjoy their placements so much, they choose to either extend their stay or take a second Lattitude placement elsewhere. We are very happy to facilitate this and there is a substantial discount for volunteers who choose to pursue a second placement! These discounts are available to you for a second placement any time within 5 years of your first Lattitude trip, even if you return home and take some time in between placements.
