Once your son/daughter has been accepted on to our programme they will be assigned one of our Volunteer Coordinators, here in the UK, who will provide them with the support and advice they may need throughout the duration of the preparation and into the placement. Your son/daughter will also be contacted by the Country Manager of their assigned programme who will discuss all the placement options with them and give them all the details they require and answer any further questions. At this stage we ask volunteers to pay a deposit to secure their place.
Volunteer Coordinators will give your son/daughter information on how to prepare for their placements, such as getting inoculations, what to pack and what to expect. They are there to support your son/daughter every step of the way and are a friendly face that are always happy to answer questions and alay any worries, whether they are your son/daughters or yours.
Our Lattitude Global Volunteering team at STA Travel assist with flights, travel insurance and other travel queries. You and your son/daughter are also invited to a pre-departure briefing where volunteers are given further details about their placements and where they can meet fellow volunteers going to the same country. You and they can chat to returned volunteers and meet our staff.
All of our placements incorporate an in-country orientation to help volunteers adjust to their new surroundings as well as meet our in-country managers and local representatives. Throughout the length of the placement our in-country staff are there to support our volunteers. Furthermore, Lattitude Global Volunteering also operates 24/7 emergency phone. So volunteers and parents can always reach staff if they need to.
