ICS Volunteer Coordinator – Malawi - 18 month contract (with possible extension)

Background

The International Citizen Service (ICS) programme brings young people from different countries together to fight poverty. The programme delivers direct development impact in communities through volunteering projects involving UK and Malawi volunteers living, working and learning together. Within a programme of structured personal development and learning, Lattitude ICS creates a group of young people, both in Malawi and in the UK who make a lifelong contribution as advocates for international development and as agents of social change within their own communities.

Duties

Based in Northern Malawi (the granted project area), the ICS Coordinator will report to the Country Manager and work remotely with Lattitude ICS staff in UK, to facilitate the programme. Supervising volunteers and Team Leaders (both Malawian & UK), the ICS Coordinator is responsible for the practical delivery of the Lattitude ICS programme in Malawi, including day to day planning and management of the programme; working with host partners and volunteer teams to provide and facilitate volunteer learning and development, pastoral support for volunteers, project delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

Qualifications

The applicant shall have a first degree from any recognized and accredited Malawi institution of higher learning. They will be expected to have strong people management skills within cross cultural environments. They must be able to provide a high degree of pastoral care and support to young people and have experience of working with and developing young people and have proven ability to deliver training, preferably in an international development context. Experience in supervision and line management and in budget and finance management is essential. Strong Planning and organisational skills, computer and administrative skills are required.
