What is International Citizen Service (ICS)?
International Citizen Service (ICS) is a UK government funded development programme that brings together young people to make a difference in some of the poorest communities around the world.
It enables those aged 18 to 25 and above to contribute to a programme of international development and to gain valuable personal development and learning through volunteering abroad.
Aged over 25? Not a problem! ICS is looking for hard working, dedicated and passionate team leaders to lead groups of young adults on their volunteering placements abroad.
International Citizen Service aims to ensure the continued active global citizenship of participants through an Action at Home project following their international volunteering experience.
ICS is funded by the Department for International Development and led by VSO in partnership with respected development organisations including Lattitude Global Volunteering. Each partner is working towards three development outcomes:
- Project impact overseas
- Volunteer personal development
- Active citizens in the UK and overseas
Lattitude Global Volunteering ICS is a structured, three stage programme involving
- Fundraising, training and preparation;
- A 12 week overseas volunteering placement; and
- Action at home activities.
The Lattitude ICS programmes give you the opportunity to work in either Ghana or Malawi for ten weeks as part of a team of UK and local volunteers… Working together with Lattitude’s local programme partners, teams will deliver projects that contribute towards specific, long term outcomes for local communities. .
Lattitude ICS works closely with host partners, local communities and NGOs to make an international development experience available to volunteers from UK and from the country in which the projects are based.
Applying from outside the UK and Europe
