Fundraising at school can be a lot of fun. There are so many different activities you could do and it’s a great opportunity to work with your fellow students. It is a chance to impress your teachers while raising funds for your Lattitude Global Volunteering placement and inform the rest of the student body about the need for people like you to volunteer and make a difference.
Here are some ideas to get you started…
Casual Clothes or Fancy Dress Day
Once you have your teachers’ permission, ask the whole school to take part. Ask everyone to bring in a pound of two for the privilege of not wearing their school uniform, and the money can then be used to fund your placement. You could even pick a dressing up theme! Get your teachers involved and perhaps have a prize for the best dressed student, or combine it with another fundraising activity such as a…
Fashion Show
Organise a fashion show with your friends and showcase your creations to the rest of your school. Charge an admission fee and invite as many teachers, friends and family as possible.
School Disco
Transform the school hall for a lunchtime or evening and ask friends in bands to play ,or be the DJ. Sell drinks and cakes as refreshments and charge a small admission fee.
Cake Sale
Ask your friends to help you organise a cake sale at break time. You could make biscuits, cupcakes and sponges and offer them to other pupils in return for a donation. Perhaps you could do it every day for a week, or until the cakes run out! Why not create a mini-market with lots of stalls selling different things? Old toys and clothes or handmade crafts will be extremely popular!
Christmas, Easter or Summer Concert
Any time is a great time to bring family and friends together to enjoy some singing and music. Hold the concert in your school hall or even in public so that anyone can join in. Ask everyone who attends for a donation and offer your guests some seasonal food such as mince pies, chocolates or cucumber sandwiches afterwards.
Fun Run
Organise a run/walk/cycle in the local park or your school grounds. Ask friends and family to sponsor you for taking part or simply ask them to make a donation in order to join in. To make it more interesting you could encourage everyone to dress up or create an obstacle course. Remember to keep it safe though!
You may also want to think about maximising the money raised by selling refreshments at the end of the course, or holding a raffle for the families and friends who have come to cheer you all on.
Sponsored Silence
This is a toughie – how long can you stay quiet for? An hour? Three hours? A whole day? Ask us for a sponsorship form and encourage everyone to sponsor you and your friends to see who can stay silent the longest.
